Alpaca Air is a blown yarn, which means the fibres are gently blown into a fine, hollow mesh tube. This construction creates a light, airy structure without the need for spinning and plying, resulting in a yarn that’s soft, lofty, and warm - but much lighter than a traditionally spun yarn of the same thickness. It’s made from a blend of baby alpaca and cotton, giving it a gentle halo and a soft, slightly fuzzy texture that feels warm and comfortable against the skin. The cotton mesh provides stability and structure, while the alpaca offers warmth and softness.
It works well for garments and accessories where you want warmth without bulk. It has good stitch definition for simple and textured patterns, but due to the soft halo, it’s less suited for very intricate lace or cables.

Each skein is hand-dyed in small batches and variations between skeins should be expected. We dye and store all of our yarn in our smoke-free and pet-free home. Due to the individual nature of hand-dyed yarn, I would always recommend alternating skeins.
The skeins has been photographed in natural light to give you the best representation of colour, but please be aware that screens and monitors can differ slightly. I cannot guarantee that your device's display of any colour will be accurate.
High quality acid dyes are properly set before washing and rinsing twice to assure the colour adheres correctly, however some bright or extreme colours may bleed slightly in the first wash.
