Zakami Yarns is a small-batch, indie dyer business that create highly curated hand-dyed yarn. The information below show our commitment to the safety of our products, and all the information relative to our GPSR compliance.
Zakami Yarns Safety Information Summary:
The yarn we produce is designed for knitting, crochet and weaving projects.
This product contains wool. See the label for the yarn blend, showing % of each fibre.
All of our animal-origin fibres are mulesing-free.
Our yarn suppliers state that:
The Superwash Merino comes from South America and is superwash treated
in Europe to the highest Oeko-Tex standard.
The Bluefaced Leicester is British, and is purchased through the British Wool Marketing board. The fibres are then scoured and Superwash Treated in the UK to the highest environmental standards possible.
The Alpaca comes from the Peruvian Andes and it has the highest Oeko-Tex standard.
The Corriedale yarn is 100% sourced and manufactured in the UK and have a GOTS certification.
We are not “producers” of chemicals. We purchase them from suppliers who are in compliance with safety regulations.
The data sheets for all the chemicals used in the washing or dyeing process are available below.
We follow the safety guidance within the SDS (Safety Data Sheets), throughout our dye process, to ensure safe working practices and the safety of our yarn.

Our yarn is thoroughly washed with soap, "specially formulated to minimise the risk of allergies on sensitive skin with 0% fragrance and 0% colouring", as to not leave any residue behind.
Wool is fire resistant but other natural fibres are less or not fire resistant (such as cotton). Keep away from naked flames.
