Important Update: New US Tariffs and What They Mean for Our Customers
From 29 August 2025, the United States will implement new tariffs, removing the de minimis threshold that previously allowed small parcels to enter the country duty-free. This change affects all goods imported into the US, including hand-dyed yarn and other craft supplies.
As a small business, we want to be transparent about how this may affect your orders and what we are doing to navigate the changes.
What's Happening?
Until now, parcels valued under $800 could be imported into the US without additional tariffs or duties. From 29 August, this exemption will no longer apply. That means all imports, regardless of value, may be subject to tariffs and duties at Customs.
How Does This Affect You as a Customer?
Import duties and tariffs are the responsibility of the customer importing the goods. For our US customers, this means that orders placed after 29 August are subject to extra charges at Customs before delivery is completed. This adds a layer of complexity, and it may result in future adjustments to our pricing for American customers.
We’re currently working on a smoother solution for US orders. From now on, the import duty that is normally charged when you receive your parcel will be collected in advance at checkout. You’ll see a new line added to your order summary called “Taxes and Duties”, which will show the cost that will be included in your final price. This way, there won’t be any unexpected charges when your order arrives.
